Introduction

Service Today Ltd (“Service Today”, “we”, “us”) operates a dispatch platform that connects Auckland homeowners with qualified plumbing contractors. A “hero” is a contractor accepted onto the platform under this Agreement.

02

Eligibility & verification

To be accepted as a hero you must:

  • Hold a current New Zealand plumbing licence and any required certifications for the work you intend to perform.
  • Hold comprehensive public liability insurance(minimum NZD $2 million) and professional indemnity insurance.
  • Have at least three (3) years of practical plumbing experience.
  • Pass our verification checks, including identity, licence and insurance review.
  • Provide a clean Ministry of Justice criminal record check on request.

You must keep your verification documents current and notify us within 7 days of any change (e.g. licence suspension, insurance lapse, regulatory action).

03

Independent contractor status

You are an independent contractor. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employer-employee relationship, partnership or joint venture between you and Service Today. You are responsible for your own taxes (including GST and income tax), ACC levies, KiwiSaver, and any other statutory obligations relating to your business.

04

Missions & acceptance

Service Today dispatches missions (jobs) based on location, urgency and the skills you have declared. You are free to accept or decline any mission, but accepting a mission commits you to attend at the agreed time and complete it to professional standards.

  • Decline rate and on-time arrival rate are tracked and may affect future dispatch.
  • You must communicate clearly with the customer about ETAs, scope changes and pricing.
  • All quoting for additional work must be confirmed with the customer in writing (the app or email) before proceeding.
05

Quality & professional standards

You agree to:

  • Perform all work in accordance with the NZ Building Code, applicable plumbing standards (NZS 3500 and related), and manufacturer specifications.
  • Arrive on time, present professionally, and treat the customer’s property with care.
  • Leave the work area clean and tidy on completion, and dispose of waste materials appropriately.
  • Stand behind your workmanship and rectify defects in a timely manner.
06

Insurance & licensing

You must maintain valid licensing and insurance for the duration of your participation on the platform. Service Today may verify these at any time and may suspend dispatch to you immediately if a current certificate is not available.

07

Payments & fees

You set your own rates (subject to platform guardrails, e.g. transparent emergency premiums). Service Today collects payment from the customer through our payment processor and remits to you net of a platform fee disclosed during onboarding.

  • Payment cycles run weekly, paid into your nominated NZ bank account.
  • You are responsible for issuing tax invoices to Service Today (if GST-registered) and meeting your own tax obligations.
  • Disputed amounts may be held until the dispute is resolved in accordance with section 12.
08

Customer information

You will be given the customer’s name, address, contact number and a description of the job. You agree to:

  • Use this information only to perform the mission.
  • Not contact the customer outside the platform for unrelated marketing, additional services or to circumvent the platform.
  • Comply with the Privacy Act 2020 when handling customer information.
  • Delete customer information once the job and any warranty period have ended.
09

Intellectual property & branding

The Service Today name, logo, branding and platform are owned by Service Today Ltd. You may identify yourself as a Service Today hero while on a Service Today mission but may not use our branding in your own marketing without prior written permission.

10

Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the platform if you:

  • Breach this Agreement or behave in a way that brings the platform into disrepute.
  • Lose your licence, insurance or right to perform plumbing work in New Zealand.
  • Receive sustained low ratings or repeated verified complaints about workmanship, conduct or safety.
  • Attempt to circumvent the platform (e.g. by taking customers off-platform after they were introduced by us).

You may withdraw from the platform at any time on 14 days’ written notice. You remain responsible for completing any missions you have already accepted.

11

Indemnity

You indemnify Service Today against any claim, loss or damage (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your acts or omissions in performing missions, your breach of this Agreement, or your breach of any law. This indemnity survives termination.

12

Disputes

If a dispute arises between you and a customer, please notify us within 48 hours so we can mediate. We may withhold disputed payment until the matter is resolved. Disputes between you and Service Today will follow the same process as set out in our Terms of Service.

13

Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of New Zealand. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
